Vice President Infrastructure & Operations
Inner Eastern Suburb, Melbourne | Full-Time
Lead the next evolution of technology infrastructure, cloud and operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished technology leader to take ownership of a complex, enterprise-scale infrastructure and operations environment within a global, technology-driven organisation.
Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Vice President, Infrastructure & Operations will play a critical role in strengthening the organisation’s technology foundations, modernising its infrastructure and building a high-performing function that supports continued product innovation, business growth and operational excellence.
This is a genuine build-and-shape opportunity for a leader who combines strategic vision with technical depth and thrives on transforming complex environments.
The Opportunity
As a member of the senior technology leadership team, you will lead the infrastructure, platform and operational backbone supporting a significant global user base. You will bring together infrastructure, cloud, reliability engineering, DevOps, corporate IT and IT service management under a unified leadership function.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Infrastructure & Cloud Transformation: Own infrastructure and platform strategy, cloud architecture, reliability engineering and cloud cost optimisation, while leading a complex on-premise-to-cloud migration.
- Platform Engineering & Developer Experience: Evolve existing DevOps capabilities towards modern platform engineering, introducing scalable self-service platforms and improving developer productivity, security and delivery outcomes.
- Technology Operations: Lead corporate IT service delivery across Australia and the UK, encompassing end-user technology, identity, SaaS licensing and service desk operations.
- Operational Excellence: Mature IT service management practices across incident, problem and change management, asset management, service levels and availability.
- AI Enablement & Innovation: Establish the operational foundations for AI and machine learning workloads, while exploring opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve reliability, efficiency and service delivery.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Build and develop high-performing technical teams, establish clear operational metrics and partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Information Security, Product, Delivery and commercial stakeholders.
About You
You are a technically credible, commercially astute technology executive who can set a clear strategic direction while remaining close enough to the detail to challenge, influence and deliver meaningful change.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience across infrastructure, cloud, platform engineering and reliability functions at scale, with strong technical depth across DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- A proven track record delivering complex cloud migrations, ideally involving legacy infrastructure, technical debt and multi-environment transformation.
- Experience building or maturing IT service management capabilities and overseeing corporate IT operations across multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of modern cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, platform engineering, FinOps and reliability engineering.
- An understanding of AI/ML infrastructure, MLOps and the operational frameworks required to enable safe, scalable AI adoption.
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to develop technical talent, influence senior stakeholders and build effective teams across geographies.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on automation, operational resilience, measurable outcomes and exceptional developer experience.
Experience within a private-equity-backed or acquisitive environment, including M&A integration, would be advantageous. Exposure to EdTech or another data-rich, trust-sensitive industry would also be beneficial.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Executive-level influence: Join the CTO’s leadership team and help shape the organisation’s broader technology strategy.
- A genuine transformation mandate: Build and strengthen the infrastructure and operations function rather than simply maintain the status quo.
- Global scope: Lead critical technology capabilities spanning Australia and the UK.
- Emerging technology: Help establish the foundations for AI adoption, modern platform engineering and increasingly automated operations.
- Competitive remuneration: $275,000 + superannuation.
- Flexibility: Full-time, hybrid working arrangement based in Melbourne (must reside in Melbourne).
