The Opportunity Reporting to the Infrastructure & Cloud Lead, the Cloud Specialist will serve as a key technical leader driving enterprise-wide digital transformation. In this high-impact Band 8 role, you will take ownership of defining and governing the cloud environment, establishing the infrastructure service catalogue, and leading the architectural evolution of the core application stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Modernisation: Design and evaluate secure, scalable, and highly available multi-cloud and hybrid cloud architectures aligned with long-term strategic objectives.
- Cloud Strategy & Governance: Establish enterprise cloud policies, architecture principles, risk management frameworks, and robust FinOps cost-governance practices.
- Automation & DevOps: Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, and build resilient CI/CD pipelines to streamline service delivery.
- Business Continuity & Resilience: Architect enterprise disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and business continuity capabilities to meet strict RTO and RPO requirements.
- Platform & Network Operations: Oversee cloud compute, storage, identity, and advanced networking topologies (VNets/VPCs, hybrid connectivity, secure peering), ensuring capacity and performance optimisation.
- Technical Leadership & Advisory: Provide authoritative advice to senior leadership, mentor technical staff across ICT, and effectively manage relationships with cloud service providers and vendors.
What You Bring
- Experience: 5–10+ years within enterprise IT, highlighted by substantial hands-on experience in cloud engineering and architecture.
- Technical Breadth: Strong background in major cloud ecosystems (Azure preferred), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Enterprise Applications: Solid experience managing cloud environments and modern SaaS platforms; background supporting enterprise suites (such as TechnologyOne) is highly regarded.
- Qualifications & Frameworks: Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline. Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Solutions Architect, Security Engineer, or AWS equivalents) and familiarity with ITIL 4 and Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) are strongly preferred.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to articulate complex technical architectures to diverse business stakeholders and influence strategic decisions without direct authority.
